THE CANADIAN & NORTH AMERICAN LONG DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS
September 13th & 14th, 2003
Golf Long Drivers International (GLDI) has announced the prestigious Nottawasaga Resorts Championship Ridge Golf Course will host the Canadian and North American Long Drive Championship finals. The national series consists of 525 local qualifying events through out Canada leading up to 5 Regional Championship events. In total, 28,000+ participants have participated trying for entry to the Canadian Long Drive Championship finals which are followed by the prestigious North American Long Drive Championships.
Canadas most powerful male & female long ball hitters will be on hand for the final rounds of competition and the crowning of Team Canada for the Mens Open Class, Womans and the Senior 50+ divisions. It is important to note, The RCGA, USGA & CLGA have approved these championships with the exception of the final, as conforming to the Rules of Amateur Status. Canadian based, Iceman Golf is recogonized as the International governing body for sanctioned competition play.
The Canadian Long Drive Championships provides Canadas long ball hitters the opportunity to participate in a GLDI sanctioned and approved long drive competition format recgonized by the sports governing bodies in both Canada and USA. Golf Long Drivers International has coordinated hundreds of local qualifying events enabling the top long ball hitters from each event to advance to one of 5 Regional Championship events.
The agenda for Saturday September 13, 2003 will showcase the British Columbia and Atlantic Canada regional finals. The top four male and female hitters from each division will advance to compete in the Canadian Long Drive Championship finals being held on September 14th at 11:00 AM.
Sunday September 14, 2003 at 1:30 PM, the top long ball hitters in the USA will then go head-to-head against the newly crowned Team Canada Mens and Womans divisions in the North American Long Drive Championships. The womans Team USA consists of the top 3 female hitters in the world making up a portion of the 5-member entry. George the Animal Slupsky captain of the USA Mens Team will be accompanied by hitters from Las Vegas, Chicago, California and Florida.
This is an opportunity to see some of the best long ball hitters in North America competing for North American Long Drive supremacy. CanWest Global and TSN will be airing 16 different television shows November 2003 onwards. Iceman Golf a Bradford based sports marketing & production company recently received approval from the United States Golf Association allowing the firm to coordinate, execute and televise the first ever sanctioned American Long Drive Championship series.
